Introduction: Who is Laura Raymond?

This is a personal page for potential employees to see the many skills that I posess. I hope that I can be an assett to your company!
I am currently 22 years old and I live in chicago, IL.
I am hoping to build a career in the social services.
I have experience working with adults and children with special needs, as well as with ministry, sales, and with hiring and negotiating with outside entertainment.

I have been involved with many activities in the past 4 years, primarily at my college Saint Xavier University. I have been a member and founder of the Improv Club, a Peer Minister with campus ministry, the Variety Chair for the Student Activities Board, and the PR Chair for Service Club. I have also spend several months volunteering at a local shelter with abandoned rabbits. I am proud of the accomplishments that have been achieved within these activities. They helped me to develop pubic speaking, professional skills, and have helped me to identify that in a serious world there is always a time and place for laughter!

The best of me came out in Summer 2010 as I took on being a camp counsellor to people with a variety of disabilities! I was in charge of 1 to 3 (depending on their severity) campers per week for 5 days and 5 nights. Nap time and evening duties were split among the counselors, much like an RA in a dorm. I learned to work with different kinds of people, in a different place (Iowa), and with counselors from all over the world! It was a hard but rewarding 3 months where I gained the experience that I hope will lead to the development of my career.

As a child, I wanted to be a part of helping other people from the start. An inspiration for this came from my uncle who was a Fire Chief in Upstate New York. In addition, I grew up with two blind parents that both instilled in me the yearn and the tools to make a difference to people who are not exactly like me.
